Integrating Beaver Dam Analogues (BDAs) in Stream Restoration Projects

Steven Church, MSCEE, Stream Restoration Project Manager, KCI Technologies, Inc.

The science that supports constructed stream and floodplain environments to stimulate North American beaver colonization, and the effective implementation of that science, continues to evolve. KCI Technologies has been actively monitoring the scientific and engineering trends published by academic and public sector communities. This presentation will summarize KCI’s understanding of integrating beaver dam analogues (BDAs) into stream restoration projects where satisfying the stream restoration goals doesn’t preclude BDA installations to promote successful beaver colonization.
