In 2022, Fairfax County utilized GIS spatial data to develop flood risk tools to identify potential sumps and overland relief paths.  In 2023, those tools were applied to reassess the past 30 years of reported flooding in Fairfax County and are now being rolled out to allow the public the ability self-assess their own risk of flooding and begin to make steps to be more flood resilient.
