Westmoreland State Park Slope Stabilization

Andrew R. Harrison, PG, Schnabel Engineering, Associate Geologist, Schnabel Engineering

A massive failure of the horsehead cliff at Westmoreland state park located in Montross Virginia impacted the entrance road as well as the shore of the Potomac River.  Schnabel was contracted by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to design a stabilization of the failure area that included wetland delineation and permitting and shoreline restoration.  The project included installation and restoration of a temporary access road along the shoreline of the Potomac River.
